It’s a simple, personal alarm system that connects you to a support centre, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A pendant or falls detector is worn around your neck or wrist. If you find that you need help, just press the button on the pendant or the button on the alarm unit.
The alarm unit will connect you to a support centre via your telephone line. You can talk to the operator through the alarm unit which contains a sensitive microphone. This allows your voice to be heard even at a distance.
As well as the basic Telecare Alarm and Pendant/Falls Detector, we can also install a wide range of other equipment.
We will ask for the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the people who will respond to your alarm calls and provide the help you need. We will also ask for your GP’s details, your next of kin and relevant medical
All information is kept completely confidential.
Connection takes around 90 minutes. We will show you how to use the system and answer any queries you may have. The appointment will also include a free home safety check of the property and advice or guidance will be provided.
The weekly charge includes the installation and the rental of as much equipment as you require and for our support centre to answer all calls 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. There are no additional/hidden charges.
- Stand Alone – Rental £4.50 per week.
A portable alarm unit which alerts an on-site carer to a triggered telecare device without the need for a telephone line or control centre intervention.
- Telecare Basic – Rental £6.54 per week.
We require the contact details of at least two people who live locally to respond to your emergency calls both day and night.
- Telecare Plus – Rental £8.79 per week.
We require the contact details of at least 2 people who live locally to respond to your emergency calls during the day (6am – 9pm). However, during the night (9pm – 6am) the City Council’s Telecare Night Response Service will respond.
- Telecare 24hr Response – Rental £10.00 per week.
Portsmouth City Council will respond to your emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This package is only available to those who have no local responders day or night and will be assessed by the Telecare Team at referral stage.
In all packages a FREE key safe is provided . This service is available to residents within the PO1-PO6 area only. Prices are correct as of 1st April 2020.
