Get advice and support

If you are homeless you should contact Housing Needs, Advice & Support for help.  You can do this by phoning 023 9283 4989. The service is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5pm, and Friday 8.30 am-4pm.

The team will talk to you to assess your circumstances, offer advice and work with you to develop your own housing plan.

They may also help you with accommodation in Portsmouth’s Rough Sleeping Accommodation Pathway. This Pathway offers housing and support to individuals and couples from Portsmouth who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping.

Portsmouth Rough Sleeping Hub

Portsmouth Rough Sleeping Hub can provide practical support and help if you’re sleeping rough in Portsmouth, or at risk of becoming homeless.

The Rough Sleeping Hub is located at Kingsway House, 130 Elm Grove, Portsmouth PO5 1LR. It’s open seven days a week, 8am-4pm. Breakfast is available from 8am-11am every day.

You can make an appointment to get support in person or by telephone.

At the Rough Sleeping Hub, you’ll be supported by a named keyworker. You can also access:

  • Shower
  • Laundry facilities
  • Support with healthcare needs, including access to a GP, mental health workers, dental care, podiatry and referrals to other services
  • Access to computers and the internet
  • A ‘care of’ address that can be used for mail and contact
  • Hot drinks and snacks
  • Storage for personal possessions
  • Advice and support with finding accommodation, benefit claims, budgeting, and how to access other services, like the Recovery Hub

The council has outreach services who find rough sleepers and offer them support. If you’re concerned about someone you think is sleeping rough, go to www.streetlink.org.uk and log the details. Local agencies can then try to connect the person with help available.

Concerned about someone else

If you are concerned about someone you think is sleeping rough, get in touch with StreetLink and provide some details so that local agencies can try to connect the person sleeping rough with the available help.
