Portsmouth City Council has published a table that shows the estimated value of our homes. This is called asset valuation data.

View the Social Housing Asset Valuation table.

The table gives an idea of how much our homes are worth, but it doesn’t show the value of each individual home. This is to protect people’s personal information, as required by the Data Protection Act 1998.

What the valuation data shows

The spreadsheet includes two types of values for each type of home:

  • Market value – what the home might sell for on the open market (as of 1 April 2026)
  • Existing Use Value – Social Housing (EUV-SH) – this is a special value used for homes that are rented out as social housing

This second value is based on rules from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). It assumes:

  • The home will continue to be used for social housing
  • The home would be sold to another housing provider, not for private sale
  • If the home is empty, it will be rented out again
  • Any sale would follow these same rules

Why we publish this

We share this information because the Local Government Transparency Code 2015 says we must. It does not mean we plan to sell any homes or end any tenancies.
