Cleaning

To get help with cleaning, you can report a cleaning issue on our online form

For urgent cleaning issues outside of working hours (such as spills or human waste), contact our out of hours team on 023 9282 4244

Work is allocated based on priority and location.

Gardening

The gardening of council housing areas includes communal gardens, parks, and open spaces. These gardening rounds occur once a month. Our tasks include:

  • Planting trees
  • Grass cutting
  • Hedge maintenance
  • Maintaining flower beds

You can report a gardening issue online and a member of the team will look.

About the estate services team

The estate services team are paid for through service charges. The work that they do and how much that then costs residents, is impacted by resident behaviours.

Estate services is made up of four areas:

  • Green and Clean – responsible for all communal cleaning and grounds maintenance
  • Estate Service officers – responsible for estate-based functions such as fire alarm checks, block checks, and investigations of anti-social behaviour
  • Housing depot functions – responsible for bulky collections, high reach window cleaning, jet washing, and green waste collections
  • Landport Community Garden – a community-based garden for volunteers to learn related skills

Housing depot

The housing depot is responsible for specialist cleaning such as:

  • bulky waste collections,
  • green waste,
  • window cleaning,
  • jet washing,
  • bin cleaning,
  • and graffiti removal and public conveniences across the city.

Bulky waste collection complies with current waste legislation. Our environmentally responsible external contractors recycle around 96% of all bulky waste collected.

Estate wardens

Our estate wardens are present on our estates. Some of their work includes:

  • completing block and area checks,
  • fire safety checks, and
  • park safety checks.

They are often a point of contact for tenants and residents seeking help, or information on estate-based issues. Just some of their responsibilities are:

  • Investigating fly tipping
  • Misuse of waste bins
  • Anti-social behaviour

Bins and bulky waste removal

If you cannot get to the local tip, talk to the team about getting rid of your large rubbish items.

Where large items are dumped in your neighbourhood you can support the team by reporting it, and anyone that you know is responsible for putting it there.

We do more than cleaning and maintenance

We offer apprenticeships and employment opportunities to disadvantaged people.

Committed to environmental sustainability, our fleet of vehicles are all electric or run on hydrotreated vegetable oil, our cleaning equipment includes reusable mops and cloths, and we have a cleaning chemical list which is plant based but effective.
