If you’re in immediate danger

If you’ve seriously hurt yourself (like taking an overdose), or feel like you might, call 999 for an ambulance or go straight to your nearest Emergency Department. You can also ask someone to take you.

You can talk to someone at any time, day or night:

  • Samaritans – Call 116 123 for free and available 24/7 or email: jo@samaritans.org
  • CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) – Call 0800 58 58 58 (5pm to midnight, every day) or visit their webchat page
  • Grassroots offers free help for people with suicidal thoughts or those worried about someone else. Download the Stay Alive app.
  • Childline (for under 19s) – Call 0800 1111 for free and private, this won’t show on your phone bill.
  • HOPELineUK (for under 35s) – Call 0800 068 41 41, Text 07786 209697 or email: pat@papyrus-uk.org. Available weekdays: 10am–10pm, weekends: 2pm–10pm and bank holidays: 2pm–5pm.
  • NHS 111 provides 24/7 mental health support. Call 111 or visit NHS 111 online.
