The Royal Albert Day Centre is our service offering activities for adults aged 65+ with a dementia diagnosis in Portsmouth.

If you’re aged 65 or over, our modern and friendly centre can offer support for both you and your carer, helping you to stay independent, active and well.

The centre is open from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Transport is available for those who are assessed as having high needs. Find out more about having a needs assessment.

Care

We provide the care you need to enjoy your day. This includes a range of pamper and wellbeing sessions to help you look and feel your best.

For example:

  • Specialist dementia care
  • Personal care
  • Bathing facilities

We also provide all attendees with a freshly prepared hot meal.

Activities

Our comfortable and well-equipped centre offers a range of activities every day.

Some of the activities we currently offer are:

  • Sing-along sessions and live entertainment
  • Baking sessions
  • Quizzes, crosswords and puzzles
  • Arts, crafts and hobby groups
  • Chair-based exercise
  • Reminiscence groups to share your memories
  • Intergenerational groups
  • Gardening
  • Digital skills.

Some activities will be more suited to you than others. We’re always developing new activities and will work with you to make a plan that best suits your needs.

Our staff are all DBS-checked, and fully trained in:

  • safeguarding
  • moving and handling of people
  • administering medication
  • first aid
  • health and safety
  • GDPR
  • infection control, including PPE and NHS ‘Bare below the elbow’.
