Shared Lives is a unique service managed by Portsmouth City Council for adults who may need a bit of extra help because of a physical or learning disability or a mental health issue. Shared Lives is also extending to include people with more health needs.
These adults stay in the homes of their Shared Lives carers for long stays, short stays or day support, and they share their carers’ family and community life.
Carers help to support Shared Lives users with a range of activities such as cooking, budgeting and laundry. They may also help them get involved in the local community – whether that’s shopping, swimming, bowling or going to the theatre.
Shared Lives received an overall CQC rating of ‘good’ in February 2020. Find out more about our rating here.
