New national restrictions are in place. Make sure you know what to do to Protect Portsmouth.
The Housing Standards supplementary planning document (SPD) accompanies the housing policies of the Portsmouth Plan and provides guidance to developers on how to comply with these policies.
It gives details on topics such as the size which new housing should be, the mix of houses and flats on development sites and the open space provision which will be required from larger schemes.
On 25 March 2015, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government made a Ministerial Statement setting out a number of proposed changes to the way that local standards for housing design and construction could be applied as a result of the Housing Standards Review.
A briefing note is available below setting out how the council will take the proposals in the Ministerial Statement into account when considering development proposals which are affected by Policies PCS15 and PCS19 of the Portsmouth Plan as well as both the Housing Standards and the Sustainable Design and Construction SPDs.
