Portsmouth was one of twelve city regions shortlisted to bid for a share of the Department for Transport’s £1.28 billion Transforming Cities Fund. Working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and the Isle of Wight Council, the Portsmouth city region bid for a rapid transit system was successfully submitted to the Department for Transport in November.
If our bid is successful, South East Hampshire Rapid Transit (SEHRT) will deliver a brand-new public transport travel system centred on a network of bus priority routes linking communities in Gosport, Fareham, Havant, Waterlooville and Isle of Wight with Portsmouth.
