A third of Portsmouth City Council’s seats will be up for re-election – one seat in each of the city’s 14 wards.

The election will take place on Thursday 5 May and polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Registering to vote or applying for a postal vote

You must be included on the electoral register to be able to vote at these elections. If you are not registered to vote, you can apply online at: gov.uk/register-to-vote

The deadline for registering to vote at these elections is Thursday 14 April.

If you are unable to vote in person at these elections, you can vote by post. Anyone can vote by post: you don’t need to have a special reason. If you wish to apply for a postal vote, we must receive your application by 5pm on Tuesday 19 April. Follow the link for further details on how to vote by post.

Alternatively, you can appoint someone to vote on your behalf as a proxy. If you wish to appoint a proxy, the deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 26 April. Follow the link for further details how to vote by proxy.
