The service area codes correspond to the CIPFA Service Reporting Accounting Code of Practice (SeRCOP) objective service codes. These codes are mandatory in expenditure returns to central government. These codes describe the various individual services provided by a Council to the community and enables senior management salaries to be grouped according to such individual services.
