Vaccine resources

There is a lot of information available on the COVID-19 vaccine and it can be hard to know what’s accurate or to find answers to specific questions that you might have. We’ve brought together lots of useful resources, including content which has been created locally and materials in different languages, to help provide you with the information you need.

The vaccine gives you with the greatest protection from coronavirus. You can find out more about the vaccination programme here.

Some walk-in COVID vaccination clinics are taking place in Portsmouth. You can see the full list of walk-in clinics on the Solent NHS Trust website.

English language

• A letter to loved ones – Sir Lenny Henry and other famous faces urge black communities to trust the facts about the vaccine.
• Adil Ray and other celebrities from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups challenge vaccine ‘fake news’ and remind us of the benefits of getting the vaccine
• Nigerian GPs in the UK have created this video to encourage people to get vaccinated.
• Animated video addressing some myths you might have heard about the COVID-19 vaccine.
• Women’s health experts discuss the COVID-19 vaccine, fertility and pregnancy in this video.
• The British Red Cross has created videos and images you can share on social media providing accurate information about the vaccine and tackling some of the things that people might be worried about like fertility, side effects, it changing their DNA and the ingredients in the vaccine.
• Public Health England have a produced a range of FAQ explainer videos which cover key vaccination questions, including information for those with underlying medical conditions. You can also access the Public Health England coronavirus resources centre to download the videos and find further resources like posters and social media images.

Different languages

• Divya Chadha Manek from the UK Vaccine Taskforce answers questions from British Asians about the vaccine in this video (bbc.co.uk/news). Doctors have also answered the questions in five languages: Gujarati, Punjabi, Sylheti, Tamil and Urdu (www.bbc.co.uk).

• The Interfaith Network website provides a summary of information and guidance on the COVID-19 vaccinations from different faiths
• The British Islamic Medical Association includes information and guidance on key topics such as vaccine safety and taking precautions during Ramadan. There is also a myth busting section with translations in various languages.
• Imams and scholars answer the top 10 questions they’re asked about the vaccine including its ingredients, the effects it has on DNA, whether it’s ok to inject yourself with a virus and whether you should just have Tawakkul.
