Support for Under 5s

The Lead Professional for under 5s is the Health Visitor or Family Nurse. They will help parents directly.

If there is no Lead Professional, ask for parenting help from the Duty Health Visitor at 0300 123 6629.

Parenting Surgeries (5-19)

Parents without a Lead Professional or social worker can get help from a parenting expert by emailing: ParentingService@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

An email referral is preferred however parents can call 023 9282 1816, or text 07823 687838 to ask about or book a Parenting Surgery.

Parents should ask for a Parenting Surgery themselves. If they can’t, helpers like teachers or SENCo’s should make sure parents know about this request. This is not a referral for Early Help and Prevention Support, just a one-time session.

Please include the following:

  • Parent’s name
  • Phone number
  • Focus child’s name
  • Child’s date of birth
  • Home address
  • Short summary of help needed

Sessions will be set up to fit the parents’ schedule.

Lead Professionals working with a family should not refer to the surgeries. They should contact the local parenting expert for Team Around the Worker help.
