The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic member to join our team.

Responsibilities will include being a Key Person, carrying out observations and uploading on to our on-line journals

• Minimum qualification and experience required: Level 3 qualified and 3 years’ experience but not essential
• Full/part time: 40 hours per week, 51 week per year
• Salary range: Government minimum age-related pay

About us

Little Learners Day Care is situated in the heart of Portsmouth (Fratton) St Marys Park. We opened in 2004 and have a well-established setting. We care for and educate children from the age of 3 months to school age and have an afterschool club for Penbridge Infant’s School. The setting is all on one level with three rooms: Bunnies 0-2 years, Hedgehogs 2-3 years and Squirrels 3 years to school age.

We’re looking for a Qualified Early Years Educator to join our team.

• Minimum qualification and experience required: Level 3 in childcare and Education with minimum of 6 to 12 months experience within a childcare setting

Little Sunlights: Milton Park is set within the grounds of Milton Park Primary School.

Opening in September 2026, Little Sunlights Milton Park will bring the warm ethos, high-quality practice and enriching curriculum of our sister nursery, Little Sunlights, Romsey. Working closely with Milton Park Primary School and as part of The Gateway Trust, we are creating a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can shine.

The nursery will provide a welcoming, nurturing environment for children aged 2 to 4 years, prior to starting school. We will offer both full-day and sessional care, operating Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm during term time with wrap around provision offered from 8.45am and until 3.15pm.

The setting is located between three local parks: Bransbury Park, St James’s Park and Milton Park, and is a walk away from the seafront as well as local community shops.

As part of the Gateway Trust, you’ll be connected to a wider network of nursery and school leaders who regularly share ideas, resources and best practice. You’ll also be supported by a central team, including finance, HR and premises professionals, who will work with you to help shape and deliver your vision for the setting.

The role

• Minimum Level 3 qualification required. Whether you’re an experienced Manager or an ambitious Deputy ready for your next step, we’ll make sure you have what you need to succeed.

We deliver Early Years practice to children 0-5 years. Our environments are planned around the Early Years Foundation Stage 2025 requirements, ensuring children’s play and learning is endless, imaginative and lead by children. We provide natural, real-life items for children to explore and play.

Our ethos is to offer a child-centred approach where children can make choices about what, how and whom they want to play with. This approach enables our children to initiate and direct their own play with the support of experienced, trained adults.

Our pedagogy is providing a welcoming and safe but challenging environment where children can learn at their own pace, whilst having fun. Play enables children to progress and develop new skills.
