Run by Portsmouth City Council, the supported internship programme helps young people with special educational needs take a positive step towards paid employment.
The programme builds self-confidence and employability skills through hands-on experience in real workplace settings
Eligibility
Places on the programme are limited. To be eligible, you must:
- be between 18 and 24 years old
- have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP), or have special educational needs and disability (SEND)
- live in a PO1 to PO6 postcode area
What the programme offers
The programme runs from September to April.
You'll spend three days a week on a work placement at Portsmouth City Council, supported by a job coach. Placement opportunities may include working in a café, museum, library, business administration, or warehouse - depending on your interests and goals.
You'll spend the other two days a week at City of Portsmouth College, studying towards a qualification in employability, functional Maths and English.
