The Spinnaker Tower lit up under atmospheric breaking clouds

Portsmouth is a dynamic and vibrant coastal city situated in the prosperous South East of England, just 70 miles from London.

Famous for its proud Naval and maritime history, Portsmouth is also the home of the Royal Navy, and is internationally recognised as a global centre for marine, technology, aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing and engineering.

Portsmouth is all about its people. Our residents and communities have big aspirations for Portsmouth’s future articulated in their new vision for 2040, they are passionate about Portsmouth and want to live in a creative and innovative city with a thriving economy.

Soaring over Portsmouth Harbour, the 170m Spinnaker Tower perfectly encapsulates the city’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. The impressive structure is located on the waterfront at Gunwharf Quays (footfall eight million per annum), is seen by more than nine million cruise and ferry passengers each year, and has welcomed more than four million visitors since it opened in 2005.

The Spinnaker Tower has 350° panoramic views of Portsmouth Harbour, the south coast and the Isle of Wight, with visitors able to see for up to 23 miles.

The iconic Spinnaker Tower now sits at the heart of a unique opportunity to become part of the future of Portsmouth. The council is actively looking for a new naming rights partner to become part of the Spinnaker Tower story – a partner that will become intrinsically associated with the Spinnaker Tower experience well in to the future.

The council has decided to voluntarily advertise this contracting opportunity, supported by our agency partners Reg&Co, in the interests of transparency and achieving evidenced best value though competition.

For the avoidance of doubt the future opportunity and contractual output in question does not fall within the scope of the Public Contracts Regulations (2015) or the Concessions Contracts Regulations (2016) and the Council’s decision to voluntarily advertise this opportunity does not give rise to any obligations on the part of the Council in respect of either the Public Contracts Regulations (2015) or the Concessions Contracts Regulations (2016).
