The council is using funding from the government to support local people with rising living costs.

This includes a £100 energy costs payment for eligible pensioners, from the government’s household support fund.

Any household in Portsmouth with someone aged over 66 on 30 September 2022 (or with a partner aged over 66), who was in receipt of pension credit or council tax support on 31 May, is eligible to receive a £100 payment from the council.

If you’re eligible for this payment then you will receive a letter from us about it in August.

We need you to fill in the form on this page if the letter from us asks you to do so. This is because we don’t have your bank details. We need these details to make the payment

If you need help completing the form, or would like to speak to someone about receiving this payment, please contact our helpdesk team on 023 9268 8010

If you are overdrawn you may not be able to access the payment, unless you apply for protection. This protection is called a ‘first right of appropriation of funds order’. First right of appropriation gives you the right to tell your bank or building society how you want the money paid into your account to be used.

National Debtline have a  sample letter you can send to your bank or building society.
