Cost of living support and advice

Ways to support residents in Portsmouth

Whether you want to volunteer or donate, there are a number of different ways you can help others in the cost of living crisis. On this page, you will find information about how you can get involved in supporting others.

Volunteer

If you’re interested in volunteering, you can view a full list of volunteering opportunities on HIVE Portsmouth. This includes roles that support fundraising and the delivery of food to food banks.

Are you a Portsmouth-based voluntary organisation? Would you like to become a stakeholder for our cost of living campaign and help us ensure that Portsmouth residents have the most comprehensive advice? If so, please email costoflivinghub@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

Donate

Donate to food banks

Food banks will be happy to accept donations of food or money. Every donation makes a difference.

Donate to the Baby Basics bank

The Baby Basics bank can provide items for babies, including clothes, prams, cots and baths. They accept donations of old goods, or you can buy and send items directly to the bank.

Donate to the Landport Larder

The Landport Larder is a food membership scheme which offers some free items (including bread and vegetables). They accept any food donations you may have – they particularly need staple goods such as rice, pasta and food tins.

Donate to the Stroke Association

The Stroke Association have requested supermarket vouchers or help towards heating costs for the people they support. This helps stroke survivors to free up money for other essentials, and can make a huge difference to those struggling.
