From April 2026, Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) were replaced by the Housing Payment element of the UK Government funded Crisis and Resilience Fund. It’s not part of Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit.

If you’re struggling to pay your rent or facing a housing-related financial crisis, you may be able to get a Housing Payment. It gives short‑term support to help you stay in your home.

This page explains who may be eligible, what the payments help with, how to apply and what happens after you apply. You can also read the Crisis and Resilience Fund: Housing Payment policy.
