A new e-learning system called the Portsmouth Learning Gateway will be replacing the Managed Learning Environment (MLE).

The Portsmouth Learning Gateway will be available from Monday 16 April. MLE will be unavailable from 5pm on Thursday 29 March onwards and this will allow the time to transfer records to the new gateway. This means that you will not be able to complete any mandatory training currently in MLE from this date until the new gateway goes live.

All the information about your mandatory e-learning training will be transferred from MLE to the Portsmouth Learning Gateway.

Information that you have recorded about your non-mandatory training in MLE however will not be transferred to the new gateway. So please ensure that you now transfer any information that you have recorded in MLE and safely store this elsewhere.

You can take a record of their training within MLE using the 'Training Report' & 'My CPD' function and there is guidance on how to transfer these records in the document below.

We will write to you later with the details you need to log-in before the gateway goes live. There will also be guidance available on how to use the gateway.

The new gateway is simple to navigate and comes at a reduced cost to the council. It allows access to e-learning and a catalogue of courses that can be booked through the system. It also gives us the chance to simplify and re-look at our processes around training.

We would also now like to remind you to please ensure that you complete the new GDPR and Information Governance e-learning training course through MLE before 5pm on Thursday 29 March.

If you have any questions, please contact learninganddevelopment@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

We offer a range of courses at Portsmouth City Council to help you develop yourself professionally and to improve on your existing skills. Our Portsmouth Learning Gateway shows you what courses are on offer, when they are running and allows you to choose and book on courses at times and dates which are best for you.

The system keeps a log of the courses you have attended or booked in the future and keeps track of the courses which you need to update periodically such as Equalities or Information Governance.

Courses available range from a series of Corporate Training courses to Microsoft E-learning courses or Social Care courses – there’s something for everyone to consider. It also allows you to record your own Continuous Professional Development.

If you are new to the organisation, find out about essential training courses through induction and new starters .

Managers can either authorise or reject requests for training from team members and update their team on the system by adding or removing them.

Managers can monitor team members course bookings, course attendance and training histories on the system, create development plans for team members as well as keep a check on certificates across their team using a traffic light system.
