IT courses and bespoke training are available to council staff, through classroom style courses, one-to-one sessions, and e-learning. 

Courses are usually run in the HR training rooms at the Civic offices,  although training can be provided on another site if needed.

The Learning and Development team can provide general support, consultation and analysis of IT training needs, and design and deliver bespoke training sessions according to your training needs.


Specific packages

Microsoft Office and Windows is used widely throughout the council, and consists of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher; staff can receive training for any of these packages.


Courses range from introductory to intermediate level, and also ‘refresher’ courses to brush up your skills. The courses are further supported by online manuals and E-learning.

There is a comprehensive package of classroom courses relating to social care IT systems, for staff working in both Children and Families, or Adult Social Care.

The training available includes introductory courses, and updating and viewing client details. It also progresses to more specialised areas, such as recording assessments and plans.

Courses are booked via the council’s Managed Learning Environment (MLE).
