Assistant Director of Housing


We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate, with the ability to hit the ground running, to join the Property & Housing Directorate. As the Assistant Director of Housing you will lead the successful service delivery based on known customer demand and deliver continuous improvement as that demand changes.

The role encompasses the following areas:

  • Local Authority Housing Management
  • Housing Need, Advice & Support
  • Private Sector Housing


The Assistant Director of Housing is expected to be an ambassador for the Council and Directorate and capable of deputising for the Director of Property & Housing at both internal and external events.


You will play a key role in the senior management team, providing strategic leadership in the development of the Housing Service and high level support and advice to key portfolio members.


You will have extensive experience of working in local government (or social housing sector) at a senior leadership/management level as well as an in depth knowledge and experience of managing services using the Systems Thinking Method.
