Then this voluntary role could be for you.

We are looking for volunteers to fulfil the role of an Independent Person.  The Independent Persons are an integral part of the conduct complaints procedure regarding elected members and are an essential part of the Council's responsibility to promote high ethical standards.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge/experience of local government or other public service and/or of large complex organisations and awareness of and sensitivity to the political process and knowledge and understanding of judicial/quasi-judicial or complaints processes.  However this is not essential as full training will be given. 

Restriction: 

An independent person cannot be either a former officer or have held elected office within the past 5 years in Portsmouth City Council.
