Your New Role

Portsmouth City Council delivers many public services through external companies. These external contracts have a combined annual value in excess of £300 million. This post, in the central Procurement department, has responsibility for providing contract management leadership for strategic contracts across the Council each worth over £4m and up to £650m. The role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Contracts, Commercial & Procurement who reports to the Chief Finance Officer and members.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential that you are able to read and understand large, complex contracts and accurately brief non specialist colleagues on how to ensure the delivery of the intended performance standards and benefits.  You must be able to brief and present to Directors and Members as well as impact and influence senior supplier representatives. You will be qualified to degree standard or have equivalent experience. In addition you will need substantial contract management experience preferably including some in local government.  Full membership (level 6) of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS); or IACCM contract and commercial management practitioner or advanced practitioner; or actively working towards one of these qualifications would be desirable.
