The Design Team is a multi-disciplinary in-house design practice consisting of architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, project managers and quantity surveyors located within the Housing, Neighbourhoods and Building Service based at the Civic Offices in Portsmouth. We also work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers and building surveyors from our Repairs and Maintenance teams.

Your New Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented graduate who has recently completed their Masters Degree in Architecture (RIBA Part 2) and wishes to gain architectural experience and complete their studies in order to become an ARB Registered Architect.

We are offering the opportunity to work on real projects at every stage of development, from initial design through to completion. We have a diverse and expanding workload that includes education, housing and leisure projects. We also work for external clients such as Academy Trusts, NHS and other local authorities.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A Masters Graduate, ideally with experience of working on education projects during the RIBA Part 1 year-out, with the intention of working towards the RIBA Part 3 examination in Professional Practice with;
  • Excellent design and presentation skills
  • A good understanding of the practice and business of architecture and an architect's Duty of Care and professional responsibility.
  • An appropriate understanding of construction detailing for new works and in existing buildings.
  • An appropriate ability to communicate clearly with clients and to build good relationship with them
