Portsmouth City Council's Housing Needs, Advice & Support Service works directly with customers to help deal with housing issues and prevent homelessness in the city. We are a busy front-line service dealing directly with customers, many of whom are vulnerable and/or facing homelessness. The service assess and advise customers on the Housing Needs, Advice & Support available to them,, provide support services to vulnerable people and rough sleepers, provide temporary accommodation and link with providers to help people move into more permanent accommodation.
The Commissioned Housing Services team is responsible for two areas of housing services, rough sleeping and supported housing for vulnerable people who are, or at risk of, homelessness. Both of these services are currently provided by contractors, with a spend of over £2m pa
Your New Role
Day to day you will provide a vital role in administrative support to the Commissioned Housing Services Manager. You will ensure referrals submitted for supported housing are complete, assessed by the independent supported housing assessor, distributed to the appropriate housing provider, and maintaining waiting lists.
You will maintain information on individuals, tracking referrals through the various accommodation pathways, and in liaison with Portsmouth City Council's partner housing providers. You will assist the Commissioned housing manager to prepare statistical reports and analysis by drawing data from Housing Needs, Advice & Support and other systems.
What you'll need to succeed
- General office experience and an understanding of working within a front line service
- Good written and verbal communication skills and have an attention to detail
- Good level of IT skills including use of Microsoft Office applications
- A proactive attitude, can work on their own initiative and is able to manage multiple tasks whilst being able to meet deadlines
- Good interpersonal and team working skills
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy as you will be dealing with invoices and correspondence.
- The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English
