Portsmouth has submitted two bids to the Department for Transport's Co-operative Intelligent Transport Systems Fund.

Portsmouth has also bid for £1.468m funding from the Department for Transport's (DfT's) Access Fund for Sustainable Transport.

A27 safer roads bid 2017/2018

This bid outlines a number of measures, identified through the Pathfinding Exercise in collaboration with the Road Safety Foundation and Hampshire County Council to address high risk areas, and improve the overall safety of the A27/Southampton Road. Measures include speed reduction measures such as variable message speed limit signage, road markings, signage and high friction surfacing and a rationalisation/upgrade of the shared cycle route infrastructure.
