We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented person who has recently completed a degree in architecture (RIBA part 1) and wishes to complete their studies via the apprenticeship route in order to graduate as an ARB Registered Architect.Candidates must be enthusiastic, good communicators and keen to develop their architectural skills and experience. This post is a development role and explicitly for those that are studying for an Architectural Apprenticeship - Level 7. You will have a unique opportunity to gain architectural experience whilst studying part time towards an RIBA accredited Architectural masters degree at the University of Portsmouth.
What is the role?
Initially you will be assisting our team in delivering a number of projects supporting the Council's Capital Programme; this would include contributing in the production of feasibility studies, preparation of presentation material, Planning and Building application documents and specification documents. Alongside part time day release study you will be gaining experience and working knowledge in all aspects of the design process.
We can offer you a fully funded degree, training, practical work experience and support in order to develop you to become an ARB Registered Architect.
We are committed to helping you develop by providing a structured programme in conjunction with your studies at the University of Portsmouth. You will be spending at least 20% of your contracted hours learning away from the normal day-to-day work environment.
You will also be allocated a Senior Manager to act as your mentor throughout the entire apprentice process. They will provide overarching advice and guidance and ensure that you are getting the experience and support necessary to become an architect.
You will initially be supervised by a senior architect who will provide you with one to one assistance to quickly improve your knowledge and practical skills.
As you develop you will be given more responsibility within a project design team and your own workload. We actively arrange CPD seminars to supplement your development.
Upon successfully completing your apprenticeship there are excellent opportunities within PCC for progression into the role of an architect.
