This half term and until the end of February our libraries are hosting a series of Harry Potter History of Magic themed events for adults and children. 

Inspired by the British Library's major new exhibition, Portsmouth Libraries are capturing the traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. 

There are a number of events during half term including:

  • Meet Boris the Owl - Wednesday 25 October 2017 from 10.30am at Alderman Lacey Library £2. 
  • Magical stories with Jamie Crawford - Thursday 26 October 2017 11am- 12noon at North End Library £1.
  • Witches, Wizards & Magic: Harry Potter tea party - Thursday 26 October 2017  2.30pm at Portsmouth Central Library Children’s Library £2.

Plus free activities including: 

  • A dragon egg hunt at Beddow library during half term 
  • A Bubbling Cauldron of Activities at Carnegie Library – includes Harry Potter themed table top activities, an Owl Quiz and Halloween trail. 
  • At Central Library you can have your photo taken in front of the Platform 9¾ wall and write a letter to Harry Potter and receive a reply.
  • Paulsgrove Library has an owl search– ​find the craft Owls to win sweets and all libraries have Harry Potter colouring in.
