Free parking for shoppers is on offer on Saturday 2 December as Portsmouth City Council joins a nationwide event to boost small local businesses.
Small Business Saturday is all about encouraging people to use independent businesses in their area, and help the local economy thrive.
It's also an opportunity for businesses to put on special events or offers.
There will be free parking all day on 2 December at:
- Wootton Street car park, Cosham
- London Road car park, Cosham
- Stubbington Avenue car park, North End
- Ashby Place car park, Southsea
- Clarence Street car park in the city centre
Cllr Donna Jones, Leader of the Council, said: "There are more than 6,000 small businesses in the city and we want them to do well. That's why we're making this move on Small Business Saturday.
"It's an event that reminds us that shopping local and using local firms are key to the prosperity of our city. We have lots of interesting, individual businesses, which add to the character of Portsmouth, and we should support them."
Business wanting to take part in the event can go to smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com for a free promotional pack and ideas.
The council is planning to help publicise the offers and promotions that businesses put together for the event.
Businesses should contact the council's economic growth team at firstname.lastname@example.org with details.
