Portsmouth's Victoria Park is hosting free afternoon events for children next month.

There's no need to book for the events, which are aimed at five to 11 year-olds. Families can just turn up and join in the fun.

The events are being run by Portsmouth City Council. Cllr Linda Symes, its Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: "Victoria Park is such a lovely setting for families, and it's great to make use of it by holding events like this."

The events are as follows:

Wednesday 9 August, 12pm and 3pm

Booster Cushion Theatre presents Little Red Riding Hood and Friends, a comical mixture of fairytales with lots of participation, including wolf auditions and dancing a conga with Cinderella.

Wednesday 16 August, 1pm–3pm

Is Sherlock a man, woman or an animal – or something else? You decide in this fun activity, as you create your very own detective.
