December 19 is the 175th anniversary of the when 'A Christmas Carol' was first published.
To mark this anniversary the Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum will have a special opening on 19th. In addition there will be readings from the book throughout the day by members of The Dickens Fellowship, starting in the morning at Portsmouth Museum before moving over to the Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum for the afternoon:
Portsmouth Museum - Christmas Carol Readings:
11am - Tony Pointon
12pm - Muriel Cox
1pm - Pat Arnold
Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum - Christmas Carol Readings:
2pm - Geoff Christopher
3pm - Tim Suffolk
4pm - Fiona Rosen
We have commissioned a unique run of copies of the book from Puffin Classics and will be giving away copies at the readings (while stocks last).
Portsmouth Museum will be open as normal that day; the Charles Dickens Birthplace Museum will be open on 19th for the event from 10am-5pm.
