The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Friday 12 April.

The election on Thursday 2 May is your opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you on issues that directly affect day-to-day life here in Portsmouth.

Local government elections select councillors, who are responsible for making decisions on running services in your local area. These include housing, education, transport, planning, parks, leisure, fire and public safety, social care, and waste management.

If you've recently turned 18, never registered to vote, or have recently moved house, register now so you can have your say. If you're not registered, you won't be able to vote. All you need is your national insurance number and five minutes to complete the online registration.

If you have a polling card, you are registered. However, if you are unsure whether you are registered or not, you can check your details by calling 023 9283 4074.
