Information about changes to council services as a result of coronavirus

Local businesses and self-employed workers that are facing difficulties due to the coronavirus crisis can now access a dedicated helpline for support, thanks to Portsmouth City Council.

The business support helpline, which is managed by council's business support team, is now open Monday to Friday between 7am - 7pm on 023 9284 1641. The helpline was set up to support local businesses that are facing unforeseen challenges and financial pressures during this crisis.

The team is available to help businesses navigate the wide range of support that is available to them, and can advise on who may be eligible and how businesses can access help.

Cllr Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture and City Development, said "We know these are extremely worrying times for businesses and employers in the city but we are committed to helping them. We want businesses to continue trading through this crisis and ultimately keep local residents in employment, which is why we have opened this dedicated helpline. If you are looking for help and support then please do call the team.

"We urge everyone to follow the latest government advice and check the council website for the latest local information."

In response to the coronavirus crisis the government announced a large package of financial support for businesses. Detailed information about this support package has been published online on the council business support pages. Local businesses are encouraged to check www.portsmouth/gov.uk/coronavirus for more information.

Self-employed workers are encouraged to sign-up to the Portsmouth City Council business support bulletin which will update subscribers when more information is released by the government. Subscribe now.
