Children aged four to 11 are invited to become Animal Agents and take on this summer's reading challenge.

Just go along to your local library on Saturday 15 July to get started and read six books over the summer holiday - this year’s theme is Animal Agents and features artwork from Tony Ross who illustrated Little Princess, Horrid Henry and David Walliams and Roald Dahl stories.

Summer Reading Challenge is free to do and there are lots of fun activities books ideas games and competitions to get involved with too.

All children who complete the challenge will be invited to Southsea Castle on Sunday 17 September to receive certificates and medals.

Cllr Linda Symes, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said: "This year's theme will really appeal to children and the Summer Reading Challenge is a great activity for the holidays and a great way of encouraging children to enjoy reading.  I'm sure we'll meet lots of children at Southsea Castle in September who have successfully completed the challenge and earned their Animal Agent medals!"
