By law, children must begin school at the start of the term following their fifth birthday. In Portsmouth, most children will start school when they are four years old. To start school in September 2018, your child must be born on or between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014.

In early September if your child is currently in Year 2  at an infant school, you will receive an application letter advising you how to apply for a place at a junior school. If you do not receive an application letter, please contact your child's school - or the Admissions team

In-Year applications are for applying for a school place in Portsmouth for entry to any year group at other times of the school year (i.e. not starting school, junior transfer or secondary transfer in September 2018). Our in-year primary application form and in-year secondary application form - can be found below.  You cannot apply online.

 

Please note if you wish to apply for or St Edmund's Roman Catholic Secondary School you will need to apply directly to the schools using their own application forms.
