Portsmouth city council

If you want to have fun learning a new hobby, expand your social circle, discover new skills or improve existing ones, we'll have something for you at the Learning Place.

With fully equipped classrooms, two IT suites, a training kitchen, garden and courtyard, lift and disabled access, all facilities reflect our commitment to lifelong learning for Portsmouth residents.

The Learning Place offers courses in a wide range of subjects such as art, craft, cookery, computing, maths, English and more. A lot of our courses are free, but where there is a fee it includes all the materials or equipment you need - for example, our cookery courses include all the basic ingredients, so you don't have to buy them. There are concessions for learners who receive a means-tested benefit.

To find out more information visit the Learning Place website, like us on Facebook, email thelearningplace@portsmouthcc.gov.uk, phone 02392 621860, or come and see us at The Learning Place, 6 Derby Road, North End, PO2 8HH.

Community support courses

The Learning Place runs courses for all adults aged 19+, including anyone who is unemployed.

Many of these courses take place in local community centres, or can be delivered on site providing there is a suitable space to work in. We can create tailor-made courses to suit particular groups or interests.

Please contact us if you think we can help you - if we can't help, we can put you in contact with one of the many organisations that work with us.
