A child in need plan is a plan created for a child who is not 'looked after' (eg not fostered), but is identified as a child in need, meaning a child who requires help to meet their needs. If an assessment has shown that a child needs the help (eg specific education needs), a plan will be created to help them achieve a reasonable standard of health and development. The plan should have clear goals with clear actions that need taking and by when, along with who is responsible for taking these actions.
