Information about changes to council services as a result of coronavirus
Your council tax is needed to help pay for lots of services we provide for Portsmouth people, including essential and critical services such as care for vulnerable adults and children and support for homeless people. It also helps to fund police and fire services.
We are also paying more for some critical services that are needed to help the vulnerable during this time of emergency.
We appreciate that many residents are struggling financially at this time and we understand the anxiety this can cause.
At this time we have to target support at those who need it the most. If you are in difficulties, we will do our best to help. Please let us know as soon as you can.

Let us know how your financial situation has been affected by the current crisis and how you would like us to help you – for example, by spreading the cost to include payments in February and March 2021.

How to pay council tax
If you usually pay your council tax in person, you will now need to do this online or on the phone, because our offices are closed.
You can pay online.

You can also set up a direct debit.
