Coronavirus: council service information and advice

Information about changes to council services as a result of coronavirus

The deadline for Discretionary business grants round two was 9am on Monday 17 August.

In response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, the government announced there would be support for small businesses and those in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, delivered through the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Fund. The Covid-19 Discretionary Business Grant Fund is a fund for small and micro businesses that do not qualify for grants from these two funds.

We received £1.9m to allocate to businesses from the Discretionary Business Grant Fund. After the first application window there was still some funding available, so a second, final window for applications was opened. This time, the criteria was widened.

As this is a limited amount of funding provided by central government to target certain types of businesses, there is a set of eligibility criteria that need to be met.

You can read  the full guidance here.

Our coronavirus business support helpline is open from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, on 023 9284 1641, if you need help applying.

After the deadline applications will be assessed and scored against the criteria and we will contact all applicants as quickly as we can with a decision. Please do not call as we will not be able to give any further information at this stage.
