This year’s programme will feature 12 traditional Live at the Bandstand events and will be especially significant, helping to mark Portsmouth100, celebrating 100 years of city status.
This year the Council is supporting community groups and grassroots promoters to deliver seven of their own ‘Saturday Stage’ events by providing the stage, event infrastructure and security.
Audiences can explore the range of music styles and locations confirmed for this summer, with events held at Southsea Bandstand, Castle Field, King George V Playing Fields, Victoria Park and Southsea Common.
Highlights include ska, indie, alternative and world music showcases, jazz in the park, family‑friendly dance events and a special Live at the Bandstand stage at Armed Forces Day.
Cllr Steve Pitt, the Leader of Portsmouth City Council, said: “Live at the Bandstand is a Portsmouth institution, appealing to residents and visitors alike. It shows how our city is so rich in culture and creativity with such a great line up of musicians and performers over the summer. I’m especially pleased to see that this year, the Saturday stage opens the event up to performers around the city who might not usually get a chance to perform here.”
Live at the Bandstand is funded and delivered by Portsmouth City Council and supported by The Wedgewood Rooms, working with a range of local music promoters.
All events are free to attend and subject to reasonable weather conditions. Dates, timings and details may change.
