A new play area is coming to Drayton Park and nearby residents are being asked to help choose what it will look like.

Portsmouth City Council is creating the outdoor children’s playpark and has shortlisted three final designs from different specialist companies.

A survey is open until 27 March 2026 for Drayton residents living closest to the park (postcode areas PO6 1 and PO6 2) to view the illustrative designs and share their views on them.

The Council previously asked residents what equipment and features the park should have. From the feedback, designers were asked to create different ‘zones’, including a fully inclusive rubber-surface play area.

The project to regenerate the space has been driven forward by Drayton and Farlington ward councillors working with local residents, funded by a mix of council capital money and developer contribution funding.

Cllr Lee Hunt, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Leisure & Sport, said:

“We have three excellent final designs which we have carefully reviewed. All meet the brief given to us by Drayton residents, and each is fully inclusive for children of all abilities to enjoy.

“But only one design can be chosen, so we’re asking for people living near the park to help us decide which one we should take forward.”

The three shortlisted designs come from Eibe play Ltd, KOMPAN Ltd and Redlynch Leisure.
