The bargains from Southsea car boot sales have been turned into food and vital support for vulnerable animals in Portsmouth.

Every year all the profit from the popular boot sales goes to support Portsmouth good causes.
Using the £5,000 raised last year, Portsmouth City Council has bought £1,500 of animal food and supplies from Jollyes pet shop at a discounted rate, which HIVE Portsmouth is delivering to the city’s pantries and larders.
The remaining £3,500 has been donated to StreetVet to help the charity give free treatment to pets of people experiencing homelessness and in temporary accommodation.
Portsmouth City Council Leader Cllr Steve Pitt said:
“It’s great to keep up our tradition of using the car boot sales’ proceeds to help local good causes. By visiting the events residents are helping to feed and support vulnerable animals in the city.
“We’re thankful to Mandrake Events for supporting our car boot events, and to Jollyes and HIVE for continuing to support this initiative.”
The popular Southsea car boot sales will be starting up again in April on Southsea Common, from 7am – 1pm each Sunday. Follow the Portsmouth and Southsea car boot sale Facebook page for updates. Entry for buyers is free, for sellers pitches start at £10.
