You can’t sub-let any part of your allotment. The tenancy agreement is with one named person only, there are no joint tenancies.
You can give up part of your allotment – if you do that, it’ll be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
You can get help from family or friends, but the tenancy will stay in your name.
Registering a co-worker
You can register one co-worker on your plot. To do this, write or email us their name, address, telephone number and email address. You can un-register a co-worker at any time in the same way.
If a co-worker has been registered for one year (or three years at Milton allotments and Salisbury Road allotments), they can gain the right to take over the tenancy when you give up the plot. This rule doesn’t apply if the plot is repossessed for non-cultivation.
Passing on your allotment
You can pass your plot to a family member at any time if you have held it for three years and it’s not neglected. Contact us to arrange the transfer.
