Supporting Assistant and Trainee Psychologists in their early career

Educational Psychologists working in the Portsmouth EP team are extremely passionate about what we do and are keen to inspire others with a Psychology degree in choosing this profession as long- term career.

In this respect, we provide lectures to Portsmouth University undergraduates studying Psychology and have developed over many years strong links with the University of Southampton, offering placement opportunities for Trainee Educational Psychologists in years 1, 2 and 3 of the doctorate. We also provide supervisors, with years of experience in the field, to give the necessary support and development opportunities during each trainee’s time with us.

Often these placements are so successful that trainees will actively choose to return to work with us long term, by applying for a job with us post-doctorate.

We are also keen to extend our offer, by recruiting two Assistant Psychologists to come and work with us for a minimum of one to two years, to give them the experiences and opportunities to confirm Educational Psychology as a suitable career choice and enable them to be successfully recruited on the doctorate training course.
