Second Chance Portsmouth Cats rescue centre is set to receive £580 of cat food this Christmas, thanks to money raised at Southsea car boot sales.

Each year, all profit generated from the car boot sales is given to local community projects and charities.

This year, Portsmouth City Council has spent some of the car boot sales profit on cat food, purchased from Jollyes pet shop at a significant discount.

In the new year, other local animal shelters will benefit from the remaining money raised.

Portsmouth City Council Leader, Cllr Steve Pitt, said: “Every year we donate the proceeds from the car boot sales to support local charities. We’re grateful to our residents that make this possible by going to the car boot sales, Mandrake Events for their support with the events, and to Jollyes for giving us a discount so that we can help more of our furry friends.”

The much-loved Southsea car boot sale returns on Sunday 20 April. Join us on Southsea Common, off Duisburg Way, to grab a bargain or sell some preloved goods.

Car boot sales run from 7am – 1pm each Sunday. Entry for buyers is free. For sellers, pitches start at £10.
