Direct nominations for social housing

The Council sets aside a small number of homes each year for direct nominations. This means certain organisations can suggest people for housing who may need extra support.

These homes are for vulnerable people, such as:

  • People with learning disabilities
  • Families moving on from hostel accommodation
  • Others who need extra help to live independently

How it works

  • The number of direct nominations allowed each year is limited
  • All nominations must be approved by the Housing Needs Advice and Support team
  • Nominations must meet the rules in Chapter 8 of the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy, which explains who qualifies and who may be excluded
