| Portsmouth City Council is hosting a special event on Tuesday, 24 September, from 1-3pm at the Blue Lagoon, near the lido site, to discuss opportunities for local companies to get involved.
The council is working closely with consultancy firm Mace and contractors Beard on this exciting renovation project, which is already underway. The project is expected to be completed in 2025, coinciding with Hilsea Lido’s 90th anniversary. Although government funding has been secured to ensure high-quality development, the council is seeking additional support from local businesses to enhance the site even further with targeted donations. Many companies in the area may have social value initiatives or corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies that align with this community-focused project. Others may simply wish to contribute positively to their local area. Attendees at the event will learn more about how they can support the renovation, with opportunities to donate items such as decorative lighting, seating, landscaping, or even sponsor the restored fountain. Beard, the project contractors, are providing freshly cooked pizzas, and attendees will have the chance to view the progress made so far. To confirm your attendance, please email hilsealines@portsmouthcc.gov.uk. Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, will be at the event to discuss how businesses can get involved. He said:
Businesses contributing to the scheme will be publicly recognised with thank-you plaques, social media acknowledgements, mentions on the Hilsea Lines website, digital marketing, and a press release. The council can also assist with marketing support to help promote your company’s involvement. ENDS
