New for 2024 is the family audio guide. Perfect for if you want to learn more about the objects in the museum and the stories behind those impacted by the events of June 1944. The family audio guide has been specifically designed with a younger audience in mind but can be experienced by all the family.
The museum also has two family friendly trails.
Can you spot Gustav? They are hidden around the museum, just tell the staff how many you find and where and you will receive a sticker.
The family can also join the French Resistance and take part in the Resist! Trail, which is inspired by their role during D-Day. Work together as a team to find and solve clues and puzzles on board LCT 7074 and throughout the museum. The trail is perfect for a family group (recommended age 7 plus).
Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of the Council with a responsibility for culture: ” I am delighted that once again The D-Day Story is offering a range of activities this summer. These new activities are a brilliant way for children and adults to experience this fantastic attraction and learn about the history of D-Day, especially in this 80th anniversary year.”
Both trails and the audio tour are available at the museum throughout the year, just ask at the desk when you come for your visit.
All the events and trails are included in the entrance fee to the museum, where you can explore the last surviving landing craft tank LCT 7074 from D-Day. Find out more about the planning and Battle of Normandy, and then finish your visit in the Legacy gallery with the impressive 83 metre Overlord Embroidery which tells the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.
