There’s never been a better time to try out Safe at Home, the Portsmouth City Council service providing technology and safety equipment to help people live independently in their own homes. For the whole of June, new customers will get free installation, meaning you’ll only pay the first monthly charge.

For people who can’t quickly reach friends or family when there’s a problem, Safe at Home gives them access to a dedicated council support team, meaning people can stay in the comfort of their own homes. Users can also choose their emergency contacts, and in case of need, will have emergency services called for them.

So if you’d find comfort in knowing help is never far away for you or someone you know, this is a great time to try out the service. Take Margaret’s word for example – she’s a local Eastney resident who’s been a happy customer for eight years:

“I couldn’t live without Safe at Home. It’s a relief knowing there’s always help available if the worst happens. The team are also wonderful – they treat me with dignity. Would I recommend Safe at Home? 100%. It’s worth every penny.”

Margaret has an alarm, a wearable fall detector, and a smoke detector, but there’s lots of options available including epilepsy monitors and key safes. Safe at Home’s expert team will assess people’s needs and provide a tailored range of equipment. Plus, there are multiple service packages ready to suit each budget and situation.

Cllr Darren Sanders, Cabinet Member for Housing and Tackling Homelessness shared his views on the June offer:

“This is a great opportunity to try this life changing service without paying for installation. You may have a vulnerable relative and need to know they’re safe if they fall or have a medical emergency. Maybe a member of your family has epilepsy, or another long-term health condition and would benefit from being able to call for help as soon as it’s needed.”
